I swear as soon as I hit my reading goal, my brain told me to stop reading. I was definitely in a reading slump after I hit that goal. I managed to read six books this month and to me, that's great. I was in a weird mood all month.
I did not write reviews for a good chunk of these books because I'm really trying to figure my blogging schedule out and what I want to post. I will be better in 2026.
WHAT BOOKS DID YOU READ IN DECEMBER?
People Watching by Hannah Bonam-Young: This book was constantly getting a lot of shit talked about it. I didn't love it but it definitely was not the worst thing I've ever read. 3/5 ⭐
Hat Trick by Chelsea Curto: I really enjoyed this one! I think I'm going to like every book in this series. I skipped a couple of books to get to this one because I was in the mood for a hard-hitting book. This book definitely delivered everything I needed. 4/5 ⭐
Heated Rivalry by Rachel Reid: If I only read four books this month, that is fine. It's fine because I got to read this amazing book. This is definitely a contender for #1 book of the year for me! 5/5⭐
On Wings Of Blood by Briar Boleyn: This book felt like a Harry Potter rip off... It took me over two weeks to finish this book. It wasn't the worst thing I've read but it was really hard for me to stay interested. 3/5⭐
Caught Up by Navessa Allen: I don't understand why people are saying this book isn't as good as Lights Out. I really liked this one. I read it in one sitting, just like Lights Out. I had a fun time and I'm ready for more books by this author! 4/5⭐
Merry Christmas, You Filthy Animal by Meghan Quinn: I expected to love Merry Christmas, You Filthy Animal after enjoying the first book, but it did not quite live up to my hopes. The snowed in holiday setup and Home Alone references were fun in theory but felt underused, and the narrator was more distracting than helpful this time. I also struggled with the main characters, whose similar personalities made their dynamic less engaging. Still, the spicy scenes delivered, especially the moment when Atlas’s parents catch them, and I appreciated the cozy holiday vibes overall, even if this was more a like than a love for me. 3/5 ⭐
