Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. It provides book enthusiasts with a fresh topic each week to discuss and share on Tuesdays, bringing the book-loving community together.
This week we get to share books that have high page counts! To me, a higher page count is 500+ pages. I have a love/hate relationship with books that have a lot of pages. It's all about whether the author can keep me engaged throughout the whole book.
It's safe to say, that I have not read a majority of these books. Why? Because I am fucking intimidated by a chunky book.
Also, say the HAPPIEST birthday to my husband. He turns 40 today 😘
DO YOU LIKE READING CHUNKY BOOKS?
City Of Gods And Monsters by Kayla Edwards (760 pages): I really want to read this book as a lot of people say that it's similar to House of Earth and Blood. I am just so worried I am not going to like this book for some reason.
Pucking Around by Emily Rath (592 pages): I read this book and I think I rated it like three stars. It wasn't a terrible book... I just found myself bored for a bit of the book.
The Priory Of The Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon (848 pages): I read this book around the time it was released. Could I tell you anything about it? Most likely not. I somehow rated it four stars even though I retained nothing of what happened.
Tryst Six Venom by Penelope Douglas (528 pages): So, I rated this book five stars. This one is a bully sapphic read and I loved the crap out of it.
Rain Of Shadows And Endings by Melissa K. Roehrich (668 pages): I eye this book every single time I am looking for a romantasy book I want to read. Of course, the size of the book kinda scares me.
Brutal Obsession by S. Massery (600 pages): We got ourselves another bully romance. I didn't absolutely love this one but I feel like I would really enjoy all of this author's books!
When The Moon Hatched by Sarah A. Parker (736 pages): I want to reread this book. I feel like I didn't appreciate it as much as everyone else has. I rated it three stars and I feel like I'm one of the few that did!
The Striker by Ana Huang (592 pages): I feel like I'm one of the few that liked this book. (I know quite the opposite of the last book I talked about) Ana Huang will always be an auto-buy author for me and you can't ever change my mind.
Babel by R.F. Kuang (560 pages): Not gonna lie... I didn't love this book. I will say, R.F. Kuang is a phenomenal writer. I highly recommend reading her books.
Arcana Academy by Elise Kova (576 pages): I recently purchased this book and I'm really looking forward to reading it! Elise Kova writes such good romantasy stories so I'm excited to see what this new series will bring!

All reviews are always my opinion. I do not get paid to review books or give good reviews. There will be times where books are provided for my honest review. I will always indicate whether a book was provided to me for review.
I've only read Babel and Priory from your list but I do have Arcana on my TBR and I can't wait to check it out. I enjoy the chonky books every now and then, but it's definitely not always a priority. Sometimes it can be very off-putting when I know they're that long because it's such a big time investment. I think that's partially why I haven't picked up the Kayla Edwards series yet because all of them are so big! 🫣 I hope you enjoy the ones you haven't read yet and happiest of birthdays to your hubby!
ReplyDeleteI had to return Babel to the library before finishing it, but someday I will try again.
ReplyDeleteNot read any of these, but When The Moon Hatched, caught my eye.

I have The Priory of the Orange Tree on my Kindle, waiting to be read. Hahaha.
ReplyDeleteHere is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
Awesome list!
ReplyDeleteI'm intimidated by books over 400 pages. But give me a 15 hour audiobook (which is typically over 400 pages), and I'm good. Go figure!

I hope to read Arcana Academy soon. I totally forgot about Priory, but I DNF'ed it on 3/4, so it therefore slipped my mind.
ReplyDeleteI have When The Moon Hatched on my TBR. I'm curious about Arcana Academy as well.
ReplyDeleteSame! If I'm really engaged by a book, I don't care how long it is. If a book is boring me, it's going to take a lot for me to want to continue with it, no matter how many pages it has.
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT!
Great list! The only book on your list that I've read is Babel, and I agree with your sentiments. I've had Priory sitting on my literal bookshelf side-eyeing me for years, and still haven't gotten to it. So many of these books sound really good AND have beautiful covers.
