My Review
I've been seen Catherine Cowles everywhere lately. I finally bit the bullet and purchased a couple of her books. And after reading some of Devney Perry's books, I learned that I do enjoy romantic suspense.
Fragile Santuary follows Rhodes and Anson. Rhodes is a survivor of a house fire who is currently getting said house renovated. Anson is one of the guys working on the house as he specializes in homes that have had fire damage. Anson has a past that he doesn't like to share and it honestly makes him not want to get close to anyone. Unfortunately for him, Rhodes likes to be friends with everyone and kind of makes it her mission to be his friend.
This is definitely a grumpy-sunshine book. Rhodes is very sunshine, even with her tragic past. Anson is grumpy because he's scared to get close to anyone. I really enjoy the dynamic that you can have a tragic past but know that there are different ways with coping.
I liked this book... kind of far from loving it. I didn't really believe how both Anson and Rhodes's past could be so connected like they are. I will say, I did not guess the culprit of everything and I'm really happy that I didn't!
I wasn't the biggest fan of this book but I did enjoy Catherine's writing and will most likely pick up more from her in the future.
