MEET THE BLOGGER
Hi, I’m Tiffany... unapologetically obsessed with books. This blog is my personal reading journal where I track the books I read, the ones I buy (maybe too often), and everything in between. Think of it as a bookish diary. If you love stories, shelves full of TBRs, and honest thoughts on all things bookish, you’re in the right place. Let’s be book friends!

Yes, I’m a single dad who needs a nanny for the summer.

But hire the stranded runaway bride who shows up on my doorstep in a wedding gown with no references, no skills, and no experience?

No one is that desperate.

Except within twenty-four hours, down-on-her-luck Veronica Sutton manages to charm my kids, my family, and half the population of Cherry Tree Harbor into believing she’s perfect for the job.

And for me.

It’s not that I can’t see the appeal–those baby blue eyes? The endless legs? That mouth made for trouble? But I’ve got enough on my plate, raising two kids on my own and keeping the family business alive. I don’t have the time or the inclination to fall for an outspoken city girl.

So I should have kept my hands to myself.

Holding her in my arms was a big mistake. Even worse? Spending the night together. She ignites a possessive fire in me that I’m finding hard to snuff out.

But the most unforgivable? Growing attached to the sound of her laugh, the scent of her skin, and the way her body wraps around mine in the dark.

At the end of the summer, she’ll be gone.
And if I’m not careful, she might run away with my heart.
My Review

There’s honestly not much I can say about this book other than it was cute. It’s been a while since I’ve read anything by Melanie Harlow, so I was excited to dive back in with this one.

That said, it didn’t really hit the mark for me. I just couldn’t connect with Veronica. She’s supposed to be around twenty-nine, but the way she was written made her feel much younger, which made it hard to take her character seriously.

One thing that stood out in an odd way: both Veronica and Austin end up hitting her ex-fiancé… and neither of them faces any real consequences for it? It felt brushed over. Honestly, I think the story could have benefited from her ex showing up again to stir the pot and bring some much-needed drama.

Overall, I was hoping for more. I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it either. The chemistry between Veronica and Austin didn’t really click for me, and there just wasn’t much at stake to keep me fully engaged. A bit more tension or emotional conflict could have really elevated the story.
